Sparkle and Sip: How to DIY Glittered Wine Glasses!

Add a touch of glamour to your glassware with some glittery DIY magic! Glittered wine glasses are perfect for a festive occasion, a fun girls’ night in, or simply adding a touch of whimsy to your everyday. They’re surprisingly easy to make and can be customized to your taste.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Wine glasses (clear or colored)
• Glitter (in your choice of colors!)
• Mod Podge (gloss or dishwasher safe)
• Foam brush
• Painter’s tape (optional)
• Newspaper or plastic sheet (for protection)

Instructions:

1. Clean and dry your wine glasses. Make sure there’s no dust or residue on the surface.
2. Plan your design (optional). You can choose to glitter the entire glass, the rim, or create a specific design. Painter’s tape can be helpful to mask off areas you don’t want glittered.
3. Apply Mod Podge. Using your foam brush, apply a thin, even coat of Mod Podge to the area you want glittered.
4. Get glittery! While the Mod Podge is still wet, generously sprinkle your chosen glitter over the surface. You can use a spoon to gently distribute the glitter and get into any corners.
5. Let the first layer dry. This should take about 30 minutes to an hour.
6. Apply additional coats (optional). For a more opaque and sparkly finish, repeat steps 3 and 4, adding another layer of Mod Podge and glitter.
7. Remove excess glitter. Once the final layer is dry, carefully tap the glass upside down over a trash can or piece of paper to remove any loose glitter.
8. Seal the deal. Apply a final coat of Mod Podge over the entire glittered area to seal the glitter and prevent flaking. This is especially important if you plan to wash your glasses by hand.
9. Let them dry completely. Allow the glasses to dry completely for at least 24 hours before using them.

Tips and Tricks:

• Use a variety of glitter colors for an ombre effect or create a specific design.
• For a more whimsical look, consider using holographic or chunky glitter.
• If you’re worried about glitter getting everywhere, try applying the glitter inside a plastic cup or container.
• For a truly dishwasher-safe finish, ensure you use dishwasher-safe Mod Podge and allow ample drying time after the final coat.

With a little creativity and these simple steps, you can transform your ordinary wine glasses into dazzling masterpieces!
