Replacing the Printhead on a Zebra ZT400 Series Printer

Before you begin:

• Have an anti-static wrist strap and mat ready to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

Steps:

1. Power Down and Disconnect:

   • Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
   • Disconnect any data cables connected to the printer.

2. Ground Yourself:

   • Put on the anti-static wrist strap and ensure it’s properly connected to a grounded surface like the anti-static mat. This will dissipate any static electricity that could damage the printhead.

3. Open the Printhead Latch:

   • Locate the printhead latch on the front of the printer.
   • Slide the latch forward until the large holes align with the printhead locking posts.

4. Access the Printhead:

   • The print mechanism will automatically open.
   • Carefully pull the printhead straight out of the printer.

5. Disconnect the Cables:

   • Once the printhead is removed, gently disconnect the power and data cables from the back of the printhead.

6. Install the New Printhead:

   • Take the new printhead and connect the power and data cables to the corresponding ports.
   • Carefully slide the printhead back into the printer, ensuring proper alignment.

7. Secure the Printhead:

   • Lower the print mechanism lever to lock the printhead into place.
   • Slide the printhead latch back to its closed position.

8. Reconnect and Power On:

   • Reconnect the power cord and any data cables to the printer.
   • Turn on the printer.

9. Calibration and Testing:

   • The printer may initiate a calibration process after powering on. Wait for it to complete.
   • Once calibration is finished, perform a test print to verify the new printhead is functioning correctly.
